Overturning
Some standards recommend verification of the overturning of the shoring structure. However, usually, this verification is not required.
Verification is done using safety factor approach:
where: | SFo | - | required safety factor for the overturning check |
Fy,pas | - | resultant force of the limit passive pressures in front of the structure
yt,pas | - | distance of the resultant force Fy,pas from the pivot point
Fy,akt | - | resultant force of the limit active pressures behind the structure
yt,akt | - | distance of the resultant force Fy,akt from the pivot point |
Position of the pivot point depends on the structure type:
- non-anchored structure - pivot point is located in the base of the structure
- Structure with a single row of anchors - pivot point is located in the position of the anchor
- Structure with more rows of the structure - pivot point is located in the position of the lowest anchor (if the resultant force of the active forces lies above the lowest row of anchors, the verification is not carried out)
