Verification - Factor of Safety
The analysis checks whether a ratio of resisting and shear (driving) forces acting on a slip surface is greater than the input factor of safety.
A factor of safety on the input slips forces is thus provided by:
where: | G | - | gravity force |
Sa,vert | - | vertical component of the active pressure
Sa,hor | - | horizontal component of the active pressure
di | - | length of the ith section slip surface
d | - | length of the slip surface
Fh,n | - | bearing capacity of nth nail behind the slip surface per 1 running meter
ci | - | cohesion of the ith soil layer
φi | - | angle of internal friction of the ith layer
υ | - | inclination of the slip surface
α | - | inclination of the nails from a horizontal direction |
